Since they very small they have played kazoos, recorders and plastic melodicas. A couple of years later they realised they'd never be taken seriously playing colourful plastic instruments so they progressed to classical training involving violins pianos and flutes. When Laura was 10 she realised she had a talent for folk after playing 2 tin whistles simultaneously... in harmony! When Julia was 16 she branched out and bought a drum kit. When she was 17 she sold it. The sisters have been to folk festivals and clubs from the age of 0 and after attempting to disown folk during the troublesome teenage years they then realised 'folk was in their blood'......so they started a band
