9/11/09  It just keeps getting better, Colvin Quarmby were brilliant thanks to Liz for the pics

Support by Fola was to be applauded as Kate had lost her voice, but the instrumental set was well received.  Check out their Myspace for future gigs well worth seeing

Many apologies for the heat in the room, the pub's air conditioning is broken and unlikely to be fixed, if anyone knows where I can get a cheap portable unit from I would be very grateful

More than half of the Colvin Quarmby tickets are now sold...so get your tickets now!!!!

27/09/09...What a great start to the season, excellent support from Pete Boddis and superb 2 sets from Dansmall

Congratulations to Julia Disney who won the open mic competition at Shrewsbury, well deserved.  You can see Julia with Tim supporting Vin Garbutt, should be a great night

Hi

After two great festivals, Shrewsbury and Bromyard, I am really looking forward to the new season.  I have nearly completed bookings for this one and have even managed to book artists for next Autumn/Winter.
If you have any suggestions for artists please let me know and I look forward to seeing you all at the club soon.

Hi

Not long now until the new season starts, tickets are already selling for Vin and Colvin Quarmby so don't be disappointed.  I am off to Shrewsbury Folk Festival next weekend so hope to see some of you there.

A big big thank you to everyone who has made the club so successful and enjoyable.  The last night of the season with the Barrel o'Baddies was brilliant, so many thanks to them.  The club could not be as good as it is without a dedicated team behind it, so to Jes, Pete, Talf, Joy, Chris and Al thank you very much and lets hope for an even better season in the Autumn.

Dianne
PS
Don't forget to book early for Vin Garbutt

Email received from Flaxenby
Just a wee note to say that we had a really great night at The Newhampton with Sarah McQuaid - She has been very generous about our album, even recommending it to a dutch music magazine:
"The most interesting new album I've heard lately is by a band called Flaxenby, who played support to me at a gig I did in Wolverhampton the night before last. I'd never heard of them before, but they gave me a copy of their CD after the gig, and I listened to it a few times during my 460km drive home! The album is self-produced and is called "Brand New". They write all their own material, and it's really strong -- at least three of the songs here have the potential to be major hits, not just in the folk music world but beyond. For more info on Flaxenby, see http://www.myspace.com/flaxenby"

Wow, wow and wow again, what a brilliant night on Saturday, for those of you not there, you missed the pleasure of seeing not only, Kris and Heidi but they bought along John McCusker.  We also had excellent support from Pete Boddis who stepped in at the last minute.

Just got back from Oxford Folk Festival, fantastic weekend with amazing acts including Lau who I had never seen before, featuring Kris Drever.  Kris is appearing at the club on the 11th April so please don't miss him you are in for a treat
